Note: While this AWS job isn't a true "Cyber PMM" role, I find it interesting that keynotes have become such a monster job responsibility that companies are dedicating entire roles to them.
💡 PMM Tip
Yes, you’re allowed to decline that meeting invite if it has no agenda or context.
Your time is your most valuable asset. If someone can’t provide a clear purpose, objective, or desired outcome, that's an instant decline.
Here's a tip: Decline or Follow the meeting and use the "add a message" feature either in Google or Outlook, and simply say, "Please ping me if I'm needed." This makes it less rude but also gives you a chance to get more context from the organizer and learn why you're needed.
Guess what? 9 times out of 10 - the organizer doesn't ping me, and the meeting moves forward, and I never hear about it again. In some cases it's canceled altogether. This usually means that I wasn't required, I was just added because the organizer wanted to include as many groups as possible.
Don't just hand out your time like it's free. It's not. It can cost an entire work cycle in some cases, especially if it occurs during prime deep work hours.
